Family table and weight comments

In just a few days, it's Christmas!! And we all know that means one thing.. Family dinner. That means awkward questions and irritation. Every year the same thing. Relatives and friends gather at the same table and this is the moment when some feel the intimacy to ask personal questions.
It's nice to show interest, as long as there is a limit to avoid awkward moments.

One of the most frequently asked questions, unfortunately, is the following:

"Have you gained weight? /Have you lost weight?"

It's best not to ask such indiscreet questions!

They might mean it as a compliment, but it probably isn't.

There's usually a reason behind weight changes. No one knows it but us, and guess what... they don't even need to know it!

For example, when we praise weight loss, someone may think that this is the only way we accept them, and as soon as they gain a few pounds, they may become doubly sad.

Also, the weight gain may be due to a health problem.

It's like judging the person in front of us and not just having a conversation with them. We leave the weight on the "edge" and comment on the mood.

And we, of course, will avoid commenting on the appearance of others.

So, let's be careful with our questions this year. Because quite simply, some topics are beyond our comprehension!!
