Basal Metabolic Rate (RMR) Measurement

How does it affect our weight?

How does it affect
our weight?

Using the modern, advanced Fitmate® device, we measure the client’s calorie burning at rest and see their energy requirements accurately in less than 15 minutes. It is a very useful test, because resting metabolism accounts for 60–75% of the energy we use every day. Thanks to the reliability of the results, we can know energy needs precisely and so create a personalised nutrition programme, adapted to the needs of each person, whether they exercise or not.

What is Basal Metabolism – RMR?

Basal metabolism is the energy the body needs every day at rest to cover its vital functions (heart function, maintaining body temperature, breathing, etc.). It is affected by our body size (heavier and taller people have a higher metabolism), muscle mass, our sex and age, our state of health (if the body is strained by medication or health problems, e.g. autoimmune diseases) and our fitness level (the fitter we are, the higher our metabolism, mainly because of greater muscle mass). That is why exercise is a key factor in increasing metabolism!
