The 80/20 rule gives us the opportunity to get into the habit of eating healthier and more balanced meals.
The 80/20 rule is a way of eating with a different approach. That is, based on the rule, 80% of our daily diet includes “healthy”, nutrient-rich foods. These include fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, olive oil, lean free-range meats, fish, etc. Try adding complementary “superfoods” to your diet such as flaxseed, chia seeds, antioxidant fruits such as berries, and choosing local and seasonal products as much as possible.
The remaining 20% consists of foods that we crave, love, and fill us with mental pleasure. This not only prevents us from feeling deprived and stressed but also teaches us “moderation.”
Because as we all know... "every measure is best"...
The general goal is to reduce the consumption of processed foods but not to completely eliminate them. The magic key is to properly incorporate them into the daily diet at a rate of 20% so that we can enjoy the benefits of a healthy and balanced diet and also our personal enjoyment of foods that may not be as nutritious but in moderation we can consume without fear... In this way, our nutritional program can be maintained in the long term, essentially turning the "plan" into a way of life.
You can truly eat and enjoy whatever you choose and be okay with yourself, knowing that in reality this choice of yours is part of your daily diet. Stress or guilt around food has a negative impact and contributes to negative effects on health and well-being.
For example, there may be a meal or food that we love and crave, but it may not “fit” perfectly into our diet plan. By following the “80/20” rule, it can be adapted into our diet. We simply plan to eat it as one of our meals during the week or at one of our favorite cafes or restaurants. Or we can cook it at home and share this experience with some of our loved ones. We will find that planning these meals will keep us “faithful” to a healthier and more nutritious diet knowing that no food or meal is forbidden or “must” be excluded!!
