The human body is known to be made up of at least 70% water and our daily water needs are influenced by many factors. These factors include our age, level of physical activity, our work, our lifestyle as well as various environmental factors, for example, during the summer months, water requirements and hydration almost double.

Our body, however, is unable to store water and in combination with the increased demands of everyday life, it is very important not to neglect its intake. The most common symptoms of dehydration include a feeling of fatigue, severe dizziness, inability to concentrate and lack of mood. Proper and adequate hydration of our body is therefore particularly important for both physical and mental function. Every cell in our body needs the required amount of water to be fully functional.

Adequate water intake is calculated at at least 8 glasses per day, a number that changes based on each person's individual needs and is not only achieved through water consumption but also includes tea, coffee, carbonated water, dairy products, as well as fruits, vegetables, and soups.

Water and adequate hydration contribute to a very large extent to the health of our skin. The body's hydration level is "mirrored" in our skin, when our body is adequately hydrated, the skin automatically becomes brighter, its elasticity, softness and appearance are enhanced. Well-hydrated skin becomes more resistant to infections and allergic reactions and of course prevents the appearance of premature aging and the formation of wrinkles.

When the skin absorbs water, its cells are revitalized, preventing the appearance of unwanted wrinkles. In addition, it contributes to deep cleansing of the face by removing trapped dirt from its surface, performing a deep cleanse and allowing facial care products to work even better.

Dry and dehydrated skin on the other hand is likely to show wrinkles and fine lines when it lacks adequate moisture. Dehydration causes unwanted skin problems including acne, eczema, puffiness, dark circles, etc.

Some useful ways to increase daily water intake levels are:

  • Drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up before breakfast,
  • have a bottle of water with you to drink during the day,
  • use mobile applications that will remind you to drink water throughout the day,
  • add various fruits to your water, such as strawberries for extra flavor
  • consume a variety of fruits and vegetables as well as natural juices.
